I have installed a customized message board for DB Legends. You can access the new forum here! It is nothing special just yet as I am customizing a better theme, but it does have plenty of general Dragon Ball discussion. The software is WP friendly, meaning if you registered on the site a while back, then you will not need to re-register to post at the forums. However, if you have not registered you will now be able to do so. Being logged in on the forums will also keep you logged in on the site as well. In the future I will integrate it much better into the main site. So, what are you waiting for? Continue toour new forums and begin your discussion amongst the community!
Oh and for anyone that dislikes our current layout, do not worry. It is just a recent used layout of ours that was put up temporarily. I will launch a brand new one that is clean and fast loading fairly soon, with a lot less ads (just need them for now for hosting/etc costs). So look forward to that.
This is just a quick post to get everyone’s input on whether or not we should add some forums to the site. The previous forums we had were not that very active. But if enough people demand them then I will setup some form of message board for the site. Discuss your opinion in the comments.
Okay, that’s the cheesiest title ever but it’s what I’m going with so deal with it.
Hey guys, I’m the new staff member here at DBLegends.com. Actually, I’m the only staff member here at DBLegends.com (that I’m aware of… Avenged is the owner so he doesn’t count!)
So why was I accepted into this establishment over every one else? Because I’m the only one who wanted the job. Nah, I’m kidding. The reason is that I know this site almost as well as Avenged, and I know Avenged almost as well as… his sister? Wait, does he have a sister? Never mind. The point is, I know what I’m doing.
In fact, I’ve already contributed a ton of crap over the past couple days. I’ve completed the Modern Consoles and Modern Handhelds video game sections of the site (which I’m extremely proud of) and the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Z Kai anime sections of the site. In addition, I’ve gone through the Dragonball Evolution pages and updated them with the latest information (as well as adding additional content and polishing the existing stuff up). I’ve also written two news stories which you’ve probably already seen below, and there’s plenty more where those came from.
So who am I exactly? Well, you might actually be familiar with me already if you’ve heard of the websites dbthemovie.com and dragonball.saiyanisland.com. I was the webmaster of both sites, which sadly (or not) are now dead. DBthemovie.com was the most popular Dragonball Evolution website on the Internet (yes, even more popular than the official Fox website, which, admittedly, wasn’t huge competition) and dragonball.saiyanisland.com was its “successor.” In mid-2009, shortly after Dragonball Evolution hit theaters, it was clear that interest in the movie had died down considerably, so I decided to transfer the site’s content over to a sub-domain of SaiyanIsland.com (dragonball.saiyanisland.com) and redirect the domain “dbthemovie.com” to it. That seemed to work, for a while.
It has come to our attention that someone has backordered the domain dbthemovie.com from Adam (original owner). Adam recently moved his site to Saiyan Island (which is down now) and whoever bought dbthemovie.com is now stealing content from the original website. Since it is down Adam has informed me and is informing all of you not to visit that false website and to only visit here. With this going on Adam may be helping me towards updates on DB Legends in the future. We will keep everyone updated.
By the way if you wish to know what’s going on in the Zelda world, Adam and I have been working on Zelda news over at Zelda Chronicles.
We made some recent additions to the current layout tonight. The most obvious one is the featured post scroll bar on the index and post pages. Now I am positive that you must have Java enabled in your browser to view this feature correctly, which most browsers usually have it on as default. But if you don’t I am certain you will see those posts take up most of the page. If anyone find any other errors with this please report them to be fixed ASAP.
Secondly, we have re added a chat room to both the sidebar and under entries on single post pages. We went aheadwith the old service chatango seeing how there is not any decent WP shout boxes. So yes, you will have to register with both the Dragon Ball chat room and our site. We will use this method for the time being, just in case WP releases a smooth dynamic user integrated chat room.
It appeared that our last layout was fairly broken when viewed in Internet Explorer. And seeing how about half our viewers use that browser I decided to either redo the last layout or install a whole new one. Well as you can see I went with a new layout. And with our recent user integration addition to the site, I felt this layout suited those aspects much better anyways. Aside from all that, welcome to version 5.0. If anyone finds any bugs, please report them in the comments, thanks.
Oh and affiliates, do not worry, I will re-add all of you very soon.
Dragonball Legends is now fully user integrated. This basically means more interaction for you. Here are some of the exclusive features now included within the site :
User Registration
Easy Login
Custom Profiles
Custom Avatar
Ability to Request/Add Friends
Viewable Member Directory
All options are available in the top area of the right side menu. Anyone that has already registered don’t have to worry about re-registering and can edit their profile by logging in. I encourage anyone that has not yet registered to do so to take full advantage of the site. You will also notice a few new features such as the media player and social bookmarking integration. And expect a full blown video section in the near future (comments enabled).
Yes this is unrelated to Dragon Ball, but I felt it deserved its own post. The last few days I have been working behind the scenes on the layout you see before you. This is our 4th official layout for Dragonball Legends. I felt the dark toned colors are easier on the eye and it gives this layout a cleaner look. You can also now discuss in all our pages, I felt this was better than bringing back a forum. There are still some minor bugs here and there, but nothing major. If anyone finds an error or bug within the site, please inform us in the comments (and let us know what browser you are using as well). Anyways, welcome to version 4.0.
As some of you may have noticed, we have added a new ad above the content. I know ads can sometimes be a bit annoying, but we need them for the site. Money made from it will go mostly towards the site for hosting/domains/services. We are also considering purchasing a vBulletin license if we make enough money from the ads.
We try to only obtain ads from services that display advertisements that are related to Dragonball. That obviously can’t be 100%, so we also try and get entertainment/gaming/anime ads.
On a side note, I will soon be adding a lot more content to the Dragonbal anime portion of the site. But since we are a site that gears towards Dragonball related news, we don’t always have time for this. So it will be an ongoing project for content.
Sorry about the downtime guys. But it appears we overloaded our hosts server with the amount of visits we have been getting. If this continues to become an issue then we may have to purchase a dedicated server which is quite costly. Or we may host our media files elsewhere. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to post in the comments. Thank you.
As you all can see, we have expanded Dragonball Legends. The first step in that was this brand new layout that will continue to edited. The second step was to turn the main page into a media news oriented portion of the site. This keeps the Dragonball news organized and professionally done.
There are plenty of new features with this change as well.
Attention all affiliates – Your links will return as soon as we are finished with the footer, thank you for your patience.
Welcome the newest feature to Dragonball Legends, an online streaming media player. It is very similar to Youtube, except it is our very own! All past/future videos and music files will be embedded into the media player, but for now I added nearly 20 MP3s and a few videos. The media player has all your favorites, from Goku transforming into a Super Saiyan 3 to original Japanese tracks. It requires Flash Media Player to run, a download link will be provided if you can’t run the script.
As of now, it is only running on the one section, but soon I will convert the entire site over to it. Click below to visit the Dragonball Media Player or just access the link via the main menu.
Last night was the official unleashing of the new layout that I have been designing/coding for the past week. It is smoothly integrated within WordPress and will soon have brand new features. There are still a few minor bugs being worked on, but if anyone notices any errors then please notify us via the new contact page or through e-mail.
Users will soon have a much more interactive visit once the project is completed. The current boards may go offline because of this since I will be building a bridge to connect the wordpress database with the forums. There will be a new login area for members along with a user menu.
Anyways, feel free to let us know what you think of the new design!
For the past few days I have been working on the newly installed gallery. I replaced the old wordpress plugin gallery with Coppermine. I figured organization is a must, especially when new material is released. This will be very handy when movie screenshots are released. For now, I have been uploading Dragonball anime photos. This will be an on going project.
You can access the new gallery via the quick links at top or in the main menu. Any new material will be uploaded to the gallery, so keep posted for updates.
