Dragonball Evolution is finally going to hit the television sets (aside from pay per view and video on demand) in early February 2010. Here are the reports for the initial times for the film (which are all US Pacific Time).
Sat. Feb. 6 10:00 PM MAX Sun. Feb. 7 2:40 AM MAX Sun. Feb. 7 10:00 AM MAX Sun. Feb. 7 8:30 PM MAX Mon. Feb. 8 10:00 AM MAX
Rumors are going around that the Dragonball Evolution film will be reset and will have another planned trilogy. I first got this inside tip from FOX myself and now HoyCinema reports this to be confirmed.
After the U.S. producers experienced a major failure with the signing of Dragon Ball: Evolution, we get information from our correspondents in Miami that Dragon Ball will be restarted and not only that, but also confirmed a forthcoming trilogy.
Such confirmation said the spokesman for 20th Century Fox, Abraham Sullivan :
“If we have another movie (Dragon Ball), we are currently discussing the resumption of the trilogy” Sullivan said our correspondent.
“The only problems we have are the scripts are not finished yet and will be reviewed by our executives, as well as walk in the search for a new director to make such delivery” said the spokesman for the Fox.”
I will still only take this as rumor as of now. But if true, then hopefully the deal about a new director is also true. 20th Century FOX will still distribute the film and the casting is unknown at this point.
UPDATE : Hoy Cinema has admitted that the claim they made about a reboot was false. No matter how pathetic this was as an attempt for visits or whatever, it still doesn’t excuse the fact that a reboot is still possible. We can only wait and see what plans FOX has for the live action Dragon Ball series. Anyways, this just further proves we can never trust anything from that site and should take any rumor out there as false until proven otherwise. And the only reason I posted this rumor was due to inside information that may later be revealed.
That’s right! Well according to James Marsters that is.
In a recent interview with James (Lord Piccolo), he mentions towards the end that he can actually tell that there is going to be a sequel. Here’s the portion of the interview where he mentions the sequel. (Note that this interview was published in the June edition of a German magazine entitled “Nautilus“, so yes it is new.)
In Spring and Summer, I’m on tour in Europe. Check for dates and ticket on www.jamesmarsters.com. And then we’ll start shooting the second Dragonball movie. (grins) I’ve just heard that I can actually tell that there is going to be a sequel.
So, according to James…the sequel to Dragonball Evolution (Dragonball Reborn“pending title”) will begin filming sometime after Summer of this year. Hopefully we will get more info on this. A single actor confirming the sequel is not enough for me just yet.
UPDATE – According to his official site, James Marsters just got back from touring in Europe. This could mean filming for the sequel to Dragonball Evolution will begin shortly. Let’s just hope we hear some actual confirmation on this very soon. But when that first piece of sequel media hits, you’ll find it here.
And as a reminder, James Marsters will yet again be attending Dragon Con this year. It starts September 4th.

Variety has given the report for the domestic premiere of Dragonball Evolution.
Fox’s “Dragonball: Evolution,” managed only No. 8 in its domestic debut, grossing an estimated $4.7 million from 2,181 theaters. Studio had limited expectations for the film, which was narrowly targeted to boys.
This was expected due to the lack of promotion for the film. Box Office Mojo even reports that the film has only made $30,071,834 worldwide so far. Let’s just hope it make enough earnings in theatres to encourage a sequel.
The long wait is finally over, Dragonball Evolution has hit theaters today worldwide. So, go and visit your local theater to watch the live action version of Dragon Ball! Feel free to comment here on what you think about the film. We can also expect some footage of the US premiere.
20th Century FOX has pushed Dragonball Evolution back from the 8th to the 10th of April for the US. Iam guessing this is for weekend promotion since the 10th is a Friday. It has also been reported that the domestic version will be 1 hour and 40 minutes.
MSN and Yahoo Japan announced that they will be streaming the Japan premiere of Dragonball Evolution live on March 10th. That is in two days guys, so make sure you are at these sites to view the full coverage of the event. Is it possible that we’ll see new scenes from the movie itself…? Stay tuned.
Also, apparently an ebay user is selling actual film props from the Dragonball Evolution set. We are not sure how legit these are, but it does look quite interesting.
Finally, it seems Dragonball Evolution has teamed up with Tony Hawk…
DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION has joined forces with Tony Hawk and the Birdhouse Team to bring you the opportunity to be FIRST in Australia to know where Tony and the team will be skating each day whilst in Australia from March 14 – 21 for their “Birdhouse World Tour OZ/09″.
Today seems a pretty big day for Dragonball : Evolution. First off, the official rating for the film has been revealed. Rope of Silicon reports that the movie is Rated PG For intense sequences of action/violence and brief mild language.

Sci Fi Now spoke with Justin Chatwin recently in which he revealed the script to the sequel of Dragonball Evolution has already been written. Other reports also suggest the sequal’s title will be “Dragonball Reborn”.
Dragonball: Evolution, the first live-action adaptation of the popular manga, hasn’t even hit our screens yet, but the script for a proposed sequel has already been written, according to Justin Chatwin, who plays Goku in the upcoming film.
Speaking to SciFiNow last month, the 26-year-old actor said that he was signed on for potential sequels, and that he was excited about the prospect: “If there were to be a sequel I think it… well, I know that it would go to a really interesting place, because they already have the second script written.” When pressed for details, Chatwin revealed a little more about the direction of the celluloid version of the franchise. “It’s really, really cool. The second one goes more into the whole legacy and the genealogy of Dragonball. It goes more in-depth into a real Dragonball series, the kind of intergalactic world of Dragonball.”
According to Thailand site Kratookfilm.com, several actors/crew from Dragonball Evolution will be appearing at a Thailand Dragonball film press conference on February 20th. Here is the exact list of actors that will appear at the conference.

The unique look of the film’s action scenes complements its art direction and cinematography. Production designer Bruton Jones, along with visual consultants Richard Holland and Bruce Crone, referenced the Dragonball manga and anime, as well as a melting pot of styles reflecting the film’s multicultural, past/future reference points. The Dragon Temple, for example has Russian, Japanese and Chinese architectural influences.
Before production started, director of photography Robert McLachlan tested various film stocks before going with Fuji, which helped provide the heavily color-saturated look he was after. The color saturation adds to the intensity of the film’s solar eclipse, which in the story signals a potentially cataclysmic event. “We wanted our eclipse to be much more surreal [than a typical solar eclipse], with weird, intense, reddish colors,” says McLachlan.
Ariel Velasco Shaw oversaw the film’s many and varied visual effects, including the energy force known as Ki. Harnessing the power of Ki is one of the central tenants of Eastern philosophy – and connects the incredible goings-on of Dragonball to our real world. In the “air bending” technique of Ki, the practitioner pushes out from his or her chest, causing the air around them to ripple with distortion – and the ensuing energy force to impact their opponent. Ki is so strong that it draws the power of the universe as it is channeled through the practitioner skilled in its technique. Its ultimate manifestation is Goku’s “Kame-Hame-Ha” move.
Velasco Shaw and his team created various, character-appropriate forms of Ki. For example, a human character would possess a different Ki than an alien or a human-alien hybrid. Moreover, there’s a “younger” Ki for the more youthful characters, and an “older,” more developed Ki for Roshi.
The iconic and mystical Dragonballs were largely the creation of the visual effects team. “Everybody had an idea about what they should look like and what they needed to do,” Velasco Shaw says. The Dragonballs, courtesy of some intensive CG magic, have an otherworldly luminescence befitting their numinous properties.
Velaco Shaw also oversaw the two fully-realized CG creations: the monstrous creature Oozaru, as well as the Fu Lum, demon assassins, who regenerate when dismembered.
Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff, Jr., principals of one of the industry’s top special makeup and prosthetics houses, Amalgamated Dynamics Inc. (ADI), designed and created the prosthetic makeup for Lord Piccolo. The sophisticated prosthetics for Lord Piccolo, designed by Gillis and Woodruff, were applied by prosthetic makeup artist Edward French.
