Actually this only applies for the release of the Raging Blast 2 video game. According to FUNimation, the US release of the enhanced version of the Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans OVA will not be dubbed in English and will just be provided with English subtitles over the original Japanese voice acting.
The portion of the Eradicate the Super Saiyans OVA on the Namco Bandai Raging Blast 2 game – not ours, Toei’s in Japanese w/Eng sub.
However, they also suggested that they could license this OVA in the future to be dubbed by FUNimation’s English voice actors.
We have not licensed it and it is not in production at FUNi HQ. That’s not to say we aren’t going to OR that we are. Shoot. What OVA?
According to this scan that was found at Daizex Forums, Legend of Shenlong (Curse of the Blood Rubies) will release July 27th 2010. Also, season 5 of the Dragon Ball remastered box set has the same release date of July 27th 2010. This has yet to be officially confirmed to my knowledge and these titles have not even showed up at Amazon just yet either. The same scan shows a bit of Dragon Ball Z release dates, but it is cut off. So if we get more of this scan we will make it available for everyone.
According to the June 2010 issue of Otaku USA, FUNimation will be releasing Dragon Ball movie one entitled, Legend of Shenlong. It will be an uncut release and it is reported it will be bi lingual. This movie was previously released in the USA some time ago as well (released as Curse of the Blood Rubies).
More on this when more details are available. View the scan to the left.

This menacing monster has the power to pulverize the planet, and his murderous rampage will not stop until he controls the power of the seven magic Dragon Balls.
When Krillin is the first hero cut down by the monster’s minion, the stage is set for a brutal grudge match between Goku and Piccolo. Earth’s greatest champion vows to avenge the loss of his best friend, but first, he must journey to Korin Tower on a quest for the Ultra Divine Water: a magical elixir that could give him the strength to save humanity – or send him straight to the grave!

The very first Dragon Ball game “Legend of Shenlong” (Dragon Power in the US) that was released on the NES will be getting a re-release as a bonus feature in the next Dragon Ball DS title. Another interesting note is that IGN made a top 25 Anime Characters list and two from Dragon Ball have made their way to that list. Vegeta lands the 21st spot while Goku has made his way to the top at number one. View that list by following this link. Here’s some quotes from IGN…
Sad news Dragon Ball fans, there will not be a new DB related anime special this year (as we were hoping). Of course I think we were just spoiled with the recent Dragon ball special, “Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return” from last years Jump Anime Tour. But there is still hope to next year’s Jump Anime Tour. And at least we got Dragon Ball Kai this year.
Anyways, the tour begins October 12th in Tokyo and will end on November 29th in Sapporo. Kanzentai reports the following anime/manga events.
- One Piece : Screening footage of the series 10th movie, “Strong World”. In theaters December 12th.
- Naruto : Brand new special for the 10 year anniversary.
- Toriko : Manga becomes alive with the series finally becoming animated.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! – Screening of the 10th anniversary special.
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! – An animated special covering the Vongola mafia family.
- Letter Bee – Continuation from last year’s animated premiere at the JSAT.
It has been several months since we have seen anything new from the upcoming MMORPG DB game, Dragon Ball Online. But now a brand new trailer has been revealed that shows a lot of interesting aspects in this game. It shows the new characters going back in time to the era of the first Goku vs. Vegeta battle. There are some other spoilers in this trailer.
The upcoming video game “Dragon Ball Z Raging Blast” for the PS3/360 will feature a brand new form of Broly, Super Saiyan 3. This comes from the latest issue of Jump. Check out the scans below!

The same date is when the first Dragon Ball Z “Dragon Box” releases (although it was rumored to delay until December) and yet another re-release of the first two DBZ movies (Dead Zone and The World’s Strongest).
FUNimation has finally confirmed at the Anime Expo that they will be releasing the first 31 episodes of Dragon Ball (remastered) September 15th. They have also updated their twitter mentioning Season One of Dragon Ball.
They also mentioned at the anime expo to stay tuned for more Dragon Ball related updates within the next month. One can only speculate what it could be, but it most likely has to do with Dragon Ball Kai. Or maybe re-airing the series on TV? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Dragon Ball Season Set One includes the first 31 episodes of the iconic franchise and chronicles the first adventures of Goku as a child as he meets Bulma, Master Roshi and others. Together they set out to find the seven magic Dragon Balls and make the wish that will change their lives forever.
“This is a project we have been looking forward to for a long time,” said Gen Fukunaga, president at CEO at FUNimation Entertainment. “Some of these episodes of the original series have never before been released in their uncut form in North America.”
The first Dragon Ball Season Set includes 31 episodes on 5 DVDs with more than 745 minutes of uncut action. The Season Set releases will feature an aspect ratio of 4:3, English and Japanese language options, and the original Japanese musical score in 5.1 Surround.
The Dragon Ball Season One Sets will be available at major retailers nationwide on September 15, 2009 and will have an SRP of $49.98.
Walmart is now listing the first season of Dragon Ball digitally remastered with a set release date of September 15, 2009. RightStuff also now lists Season One remastered/uncut with a note of it being hybrid (having both Japanese and English audio). The listed price is $49.98.
FUNimation also just recently updated their twitter account saying…
At Anime Expo 2009, we’ll FINALLY be able to announce a release that you know about already!
It is pretty obvious they are talking about Dragon Ball Remastered. So it seems FUNimation now has the entire rights to distribute all of DB. And to top it off, the official box cover art for the first season has been revealed (shown to the right).
