We all know James Wong said a sequel may not happen if the Dragonball film bombs domestically. And we also all heard James Marsters saying a sequel has been green lit on several occasions. But since early 2009, we have yet to hear any official confirmations on whether or not a Dragonball sequel (Dragonball Reborn) will indeed occur. Since then it has been nothing but speculation and rumors. I expected to hear something from 20th Century FOX on the one year anniversary of the movie, even it was just a statement saying the planned Dragonball movie trilogy is no more. Maybe it is just one of those cases where they want to forget it ever happened and move on, with some hope another studio will pick it back up later and reboot it.
So, consider the Dragonball sequel trashed and just get back to watching the anime (Dragon Ball Z Kai). If we do hear anything, we will try and report it, but I would not get my hopes up. Asides from all that, discuss in the comments on whether you would like to see a sequel, a reboot or that Hollywood should just leave the Dragon Ball franchise alone.
DBZ Kai season one (part two) is now available for pre-order via Amazon. Although this current season is airing on TV, it has not released on home video yet. Look forward to it very soon though.
The website known as Ginga Giri Giri (originally Vegeta Insane!!!) has returned online (as 3Gkai). This site has been known for really good DBZ AMVs in the past. And soon after 3GKai relaunched, they released a well done AMV dedicated to Dragonball Evolution. This music video basically compares the anime to the live action film and if I do say so myself, makes it seem like the film was very accurate to the anime. Watch it yourself below.
Ok, before we get any kind of confirmation from 20th Century FOX themselves stating that filming for this sequel has begun, take this with a very small grain of salt. Anyways reports from various Mexican Dragon Ball blogs are suggesting that filming either has begun or is about to begin for Dragonball Reborn. Here is that report.
From 01.06 on Tuesday began filming in the city of Durango, Mexico, filming for the next movie Dragon Ball, DB reborn which would be the continuation of Dragon Ball Evolution. This has caused cuts in the streets and remodeling in several places in the town. Many viewers have come to watch the recordings. This film is dated mid-2011.
Well will update everyone once we receive any kind of information ourselves on this.
Namco Bandai has officially announced the sequel to Dragon Ball Raging Blast.
Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 is the sequel to last year’s high-flying, fast-hitting, and intense versus battles series. Dragon Ball Z fans can rest assured that the destructible environment, and character trademark attacks and transformations will be true to the series. These include signature Pursuit Attacks which enable players to initiate attack combo strings, juggling your opponent in a string of devastating strikes throughout the environment. Additionally, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 will sport the new Raging Soul System which enables characters to reach a special state, increasing their combat abilities to the ultimate level. Sporting more than 90 characters, 20 of which are brand new to the Raging Blast series, new modes, and additional environmental effects, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 is the next evolution in the home console series.
The new opening for DB Kai is now being shown with the new episodes in Japan. This time, the second portion of the intro reveals the Android saga in new animation.
20th Century FOX rep has stated that the sequel to Dragonball Evolution (Dragonball 2 Reborn) could in fact still happen. When asked if they have forgotten about DB Evolution and any possible sequels, they had this to say.
Not necessarily. It could happen. Who knows? We have Wall Street 2 coming out this year, and the first one was 20 years ago!
It has been over a year since the film initially released in the US and we have yet to hear any official confirmations. Take this as a rumor for now, but consider the fact that the sequel is still planned (until we hear otherwise).
In a recent press release, FUNimation and CW4Kids have announced that the English dubbed version of DB Kai will air on the CW in the 2010-2011 season.
4Kids Entertainment has reached agreement with FUNimation Entertainment and Toei Animation Co., Ltd., to license the U.S. broadcast television rights to the new animated television series “Dragon Ball Z Kai”.
Sneak peeks of “Dragon Ball Z Kai” will be seen this summer before the series premieres as a regularly scheduled program on TheCW4Kids Saturday morning block during the 2010-2011 broadcast season. 4Kids will also have “Dragon Ball Z Kai” episodes available for streaming on its popular www.4kids.tv and www.4kidstv.com websites.
Some people that pre-ordered the third volume of the Dragon Box got the opportunity to receive this piece early. Some members from Daizex forums provided some photos and screenshots of the third volume, which can be checked out after the break! You can still pre-order this item from Amazon here! This title officially releases May 4th 2010.
Thanks to a member from Daizex forums, an upcoming catalog from Rightstuff has been leaked online. It shows a September 14th 2010 release date for the next Dragon Ball Z Kai home video release (Z Kai Part Two). You can view that scan on the right. Now personally I think this is a rather large time frame become the release dates of part 1 and 2. DBZ Kai airs on Nicktoons in May as well as part one of the home video release. So it appears most DB fans’ first impressions of DBZ Kai will be based on the edited version on Nicktoons.
According to this scan that was found at Daizex Forums, Legend of Shenlong (Curse of the Blood Rubies) will release July 27th 2010. Also, season 5 of the Dragon Ball remastered box set has the same release date of July 27th 2010. This has yet to be officially confirmed to my knowledge and these titles have not even showed up at Amazon just yet either. The same scan shows a bit of Dragon Ball Z release dates, but it is cut off. So if we get more of this scan we will make it available for everyone.
