Dragon Ball Kai is a refreshed and enhanced version of Dragon Ball Z. It began airing in Japan in April of 2009 and release in the US (as FUNimation obtained the license to distribute it) Spring 2010. DB Kai (over in Japan) came in HD format and had the original voice cast, new music and a new intro. The purpose of Dragon Ball Kai is to follow the manga without throwing in filler, unlike Dragon Ball Z. This new version of DBZ was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Dragon Ball Z series.
