Anime News Network has reported via the latest Shonen Jump issue that the upcoming new DragonBall Z movie will in fact not be a spin off and will relate to the original story of DragonBall. The series of events in this film will be taken place during the 10 year gap between the defeat of Majin Buu and the World Martial Arts tournament where Goku meets Oob. So it will basically be between the 517th and 518th installments of Akira Toriyama’s original manga. Akira Toriyama has been deeply involved with this project from the beginning, Masahiro Hosoda (Dragon Ball Z episode director) is directing at Toei Animation off a script written by Yūsuke Watanabe.
