DragonBall Z Streaming Details

We revealed not too long back that FUNimation would be streaming the entire DragonBall anime series online. They have now confirmed via their twitter and blog that the DBZ episodes will be from the “orange brick” season sets which include the dubbed version with music by Bruce Faulconer and the subtitled version with the original Japanese score. They will begin streaming DBZ episodes online this Saturday, January 15th at 7:30 pm CDT at websites such as www.dragonballz.com and www.funimation.com. If each episode can be embedded then you’ll also be able to catch every episode here at DB Legends too.

Lest hope it will be in HD

  • The Regginator

Of course it won’t be, it’s from the orange brick sets. They are of course 480p faux 16:9.

Also… DBZ never aired in HD, so that would be impossible. DBZ Kai on the other hand should be in HD.

  • Nuthousecartoons

What you don’t know is Funimation Scanned all DBZ Episodes into 1080p for the orange brick. I thought a Dragon Ball fan would know that:P

Nuthouse is actually correct here. The orange brick sets were digitally remstered in HD.

  • Anonymous

It should be, they are using DBZ from the orange brick sets and all.

  • The Truth

Actually, no. They “remastered” the episodes in HD (or so they claim), but they were only ever presented in 480p on the DVD sets. This is common knowledge, and if you ever watched the DVDs you’d see on your TV they are only in 480p resolution.

DBZ Kai aired in HD and was put on Blu-Ray so it’s entirely possible they will stream in HD. DBZ did not air in HD ever, and has never been on Blu-Ray or another HD compatible movie format.

Unless FUNimation goes to a ton of extra work to artificially make the DBZ episodes HD, they will not be in HD on their website. They will be exactly the same as the orange brick sets (480p, fake widescreen).

Hi adam aka The regginator, why’d you change your name and email like you were trolling?

  • The Truth

I’m on a different computer, derp. Put away your “jump to conclusions” mat.

  • Anonymous

Yes because its very hard to login LOL

Anyways, I never bought the orange brick sets, only the Dragon Boxes, so I wouldnt know for sure aside from the fact that all info on those remastered sets said it was remastered in HD. How it was truly presented, I wouldnt know about that since as I said, never bought them.

  • The Truth

Not that it matters since I wasn’t trolling, and please explain how you could confuse stating facts as trolling. Also, I don’t remember my long password by heart and I’d have to look for it or turn on my other computer, and it’s much faster to just post as a guest.

FUNimation deceptively advertises. “Remastered in HD” is a good selling point, only problem is they’re on DVDs and clearly in standard definition. I have one of these sets.

Didnt say you were, was just curious why you changed your name and email to *censored* stole mah bike…lol

  • Nuthousecartoons

Funmation owns the show in HD but it was only put on dvd. They have the source In 1080p. They can do it:P

  • The Truth

They *could* do it, but why? They’ve already stated they will be streaming the orange brick episodes, which would mean 480p. Plus, streaming HD costs a lot of money in bandwidth.

  • Nuthousecartoons

Orange Brick is 1080p. I don’t understand why you don’t get that. By the way you only got a like because I accidentally pressed like instead of reply. my bad.

  • The Regginator

Oh brother, orange brick is not 1080p. Maybe you should do a freaking Google search before acting like an expert.

It’s obvious you don’t even have these sets. I’m looking at my TV right now and it shows the resolution the DVDs are in: 480p. A herp da derp.

Nonetheless, we will find out tonight how exactly everything will be presented.

  • The Regginator

Yeah we’ll see, I’ll be surprised if it’s HD. Very surprised.

(And I’ll be more surprised if you get that favicon up soon… but in a good way :D ). Lol ttyl

  • Nuthousecartoons

I have all the sets. I am done talking to you because you have no idea what your talking about.

  • Nuthousecartoons

Maybe I should be clearer. Orange Brick footage is 1080p, then where put on to DVD. That is fact.

  • Nuthousecartoons

Also why would you think that you could see HD on a dvd:P That is funny to me. That is why im hoping it will be streaming in HD.
