Despite Dragonball Evolution’s failure in 2009, most of the starring cast continued to move onto brand new projects (most of which will make them more known). And seeing how 20th Century FOX has not stated anything official concerning a sequel or reboot to the Dragonball movie, I figured I would make a small article informing you all what exactly the former cast is up to and why they currently do not have the time for a Dragonball sequel.
Emmy Rossum (Bulma) and Justin Chatwin (Son Goku) both star in a brand new Showtime TV series known as Shameless. Emmy plays the eldest daughter in a dysfunctional family who has a love interest in a car thief, played by Justin. This show premiered on January 9th 2011.
Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi) will actually be starring in the upcoming film, The Monkey King. He will be playing the Jade Emperor and Sun Wukong will be played by Donnie Yen. The Monkey King is a retelling of the story, Journey to the West (which DragonBall is also based on). The movie is currently filming and is set to premiere sometime in 2012.
Jamie Chung (Chi Chi) will star in the anticipated sequel to the Hangover, The Hangover Part 2. She will be playing Stu’s fiancee, who’s name is unknown at this point. The story is a direct sequel to the first movie with the same cast as before. The movie is currently filming and has a set release date of 2011.
James Marsters (Piccolo) actually has a lot going on at the moment. He recently finished a season on the new series of Hawaii Five-O and will most likely continue the show as planned. He recently completed a TV movie entitled Three Inches and is doing some voice work as Lex Luther in the upcoming DC Universe video game. Not to mention his numerous appearances at conventions every year and his musical performances as well.
Movie cast from Dragonball Evolution that currently are not involved in any projects are the following: Joon Park (Yamcha), Randall Duk Kim (Grandpa Gohan) and Eriko Tamura (Mai).
