But according to that site, Akira Toriyama has been convinced to continue the Dragon Ball manga by adding new chapters. It is said this is being done for the promotion of Dragon Ball online.

Crank up the Bleeding Cool servers folks. This morning we received word that Shueisha Publishing Company of Tokyo has convinced legendary manga creator Akira Toriyama to come back and restart the Dragon Ball comics franchise.

Dragon Ball (also known as Dragon Ball Z) is one of the most lucrative comic book franchises in the world. Initially serialised from 1984 to 1995 in Shonen Jump, it has spun off successful animated TV series and films. It has sold well over 150 million copies of the collected volumes. But since then, the creator has only returned to the well for comics once, for a one-off crossover with One Piece. His other works have been shorter, more personal pieces, though he has continues to oversee new animations, and his studio are working on aDragon Ball Online MMORG for release soon.

And it’s in that environment that Akira Toriyama has been persuaed to return to creating new chapters. Partly to help promote the game, partly to earn the boat load of cash he has been promised.

I will look further and see if there is any truth to this at all. So for now, take this only as a rumor for the time being.

    Ya its true. The financial success of Dragon Ball Kai in the U.S put pressure on Akira to make more, So toei animation in turn can make a new series that would take in place of where GT was once at. Also there are in talks to make a spin off at the same time that is about the Saiyan race.

    Well, apparently, there are people in Pittsville that don’t appreciate the series. Idiot morons…anyway, we don’t know for sure that this is going to happen…only someone’s word we don’t know, haven’t talked to, or questioned concerning this matter. There appears to be little real evidence to support it, so just sit back and observe, people. And whatever you do, don’t get your hopes up. That’s what gets people angry when it turns out to be a load of stuff you find in the cow pasture. If it’s real, and we’re being told the truth, and Akira IS gearing up for yet another run at the series, we’ll find out soon enough.

    In place of where GT was once at? As convenient as it might be to still have the dragon balls on earth, and to have Goku still the gang instead of off in some mysterious place endlessly training, DBGT was still pretty good for not being planned by Akira. I would like for GT not to become just some alternate anime, created by fans, for fans. But if Akira comes up with a better storyline, and a better series, one that blows GT out of the water, then I suppose I’m all for it.

    I hope this is true! Seeing a new Dragonball series by Akira would be epic in scale. Personally, I think the series would be better left untouched. However, just from this article it’s hard to gauge the direction he wants to go in. Does he want to write in events that take place in between sagas? Do something after the events of Z but before the events of GT? Maybe something with all new characters that take place during the same time as the Z saga but in a different location?

    Overall I can say is, it’s about time. :D

    I really do have to say it’s unlikely, as last I knew he handed the DB reigns over to Naho Ooishi, so she’d be the most likely to continue anything if it happened. Plus they said new chapters, not necessarily a new series. So it could just be side stories. He did say that he had wanted the human characters to get more attention.

    But as for saying it’s linked to DB Online… no. You really can’t push an MMORPG via a set plot with set characters when the entire premise of the thing is it’s non-linear and open. That right there makes it seem more suspicious, that they’d claim it’d tie into that somehow.

    I’m so glad Toriyama Sensei is making more Dragon Ball related stuff. Also i hope this means that Dragon Ball Online is soon reaching it’s International launch soon.

    Dragon ball z is a legendary anime, we want the legend to continue! even naruto, bleach does fill the space for some time, it will not match the legendary anime.     Personally i dont really like DBGT. It would be great if  Akira Toriyama did more Dragon Ball and if it would start off shortly after the events of Majin Buu. Also to make DBGT as a kind of alternate storyline like the movies

    well i am a 14 year old and i loved dragon ball z i went out and bought every series i disliked the fact it ended and wish it would come back it was an extremely good series and i am not gonna lie i did tear up when it ended lol if akira ever sees this i wish he would start dragon ball z up fresh!!!!!!!!!!

    i love dragon ever since the summer in 2012 i couldn’t stop watching i love the series please let it continue cuz if u do Akira u would make me a happiest girl in the world . i love Pan so much she is just like Chi Chi they both yell Pan yells at Giru and ChiChi yells at Goku and to herself but if u would continue the series thank you very much.
