This special “Super Battle Stage” premiered back in March of 2010 in the Greenland Amusement Park in Arao City, Japan. The show was 30 minutes long and featured actors wearing costumes of their characters with pre-recorded voices, and background music from DB Kai itself. You can watch the entire Super Battle Stage Show below!

Summary provided by Kanzentai:

One day, Bulma decides to open a public tour of Capsule Corporation, and gets Goku and Gohan to help out. Goku is tired and doesn’t much feel like doing it; it turns out that Chi Chi talked him into it by saying he ought to act fatherly and go with Gohan. Vegeta spots him, and the two start quarreling immediately (Vegeta seems a bit sensitive about his inability to become a Super Saiyan). As Bulma tries to calm them down, Dr. Brief informs everyone that a mysterious object is falling towards Capsule Corporation.

It turns out to be the spaceship of Broli and Paragus, who have come to destroy the Earth. First though, they want to make “Kakarot” their henchman (Goku seems to already know who Paragus is for some reason). Broli is already in his Super Saiyan form, and belittles Goku and the others. Goku turns into a Super Saiyan and fights him, while Paragus tries to capture Bulma.

Paragus’ control device for Broli eventually breaks, causing Broli to run wild (Paragus says this happens every day). Broli transforms into his Legendary Super Saiyan form, but in the end the heroes manage to drive him off anyway, with Bulma’s skill with machinery playing a major role in his defeat. Rather than dying like in the original movie, Broli and Paragus simply retreat, with Paragus having to carry Broli to safety on his back.

i think there shoulda been sublitles for the video, kinda cool though. the only thing i wish they would of done was make goku, vegeta and gohan turn into super saiyans.

  • Mr.K

Subtitles would’ve been nice still. But the video was cool though. Everything seems perfect, everyone played their part nicely, but Goku should’ve been a little taller, and Broly’s upper body should’ve been a little bigger. They can probably take this and CG it, and make something similar to Beowolf kind of movies.

    Wow, that was fairly pathetic.

I’ll give it it’s due; this is pretty well timed and the production values are surprising given I doubt this place is quite Disneyland, but the point is, compressing something as massive and epic as Dragonball into an on-stage show is going to be kinda lame in the BEST of times.

I liked the fact that EVENTUALLY the energy blasts were done as smoke blown from a jet, but the pyrotechnics were tragically lame. Any energy blast was invisible until two at the end, and the Kamehameha “beam” doesn’t even reach halfway to Broly. Then of course, they try to make timed charges on the ground look like energy blast explosions or a Super Saiyan aura. It’s way too small, but they could’ve at LEAST opted to use different chemicals in order to make the explosions or flames the proper colors. The illusion would’ve been appreciated, I mean c’mon, Disney blows thousands every damn day on fireworks, all of which have specific colors to them.

Either way, the smoke should’ve been utilized more, and in larger quantities. Or better yet, give the actors little rigs with a button on each hand and a corresponding jet at each wrist (maybe a small flashlight) leading to a small tank in the back. Reverse Peter-Parker style, the actors could press the button on their other hand and let out a jet of colored, lighted smoke. That would be awesome, seriously.

Dude it wasn’t meant to be some high dollar performance. It was for entertainment purposes at a amusement park in Japan. I bet you won’t find anything close to this in America.

  • gram18

Thankfully you won’t in any other part of the world as well. That was embarrassing.

  • http://www.dblegends.com/contact-us avenged

It was still better than DB Evolution, not my problem if no one can see the entertainment value in this.

  • gram18

No it wasn’t. For all it’s flaws, comparing this trash to DB Evolution is so wrong in so many ways. No one can see the entertainment value in this cause there is none to be found. Also, if you know and love dragonball for what it really is, a character driven story with great character development, you would hate the milking of it’s popularity by cheap, made for kids and really special people, crap like this, that embarrass long-time fans. Dragonball is no disney show and shouldn’t try to be one.

  • http://www.dblegends.com/contact-us avenged

DB is a kids show there guy. But something you wouldn’t know is that in Japan, they are much more tolerate against nudity, cussing, etc than we are. Hard to believe but true. And don’t tell me you believe what you said by praising Db Evolution at the same time.

  • gram18

I did not praise DB Evolution there guy, read my comment again please. I said comparing this trash to DB Evolution and saying this is better does not make any sense at all. The fact that Dragonball was made for kids in Japan, does not change the fact that this live-show is a badly made, embarrassing awful piece of cr@p that has nothing to do with the spirit of the show. You posted it, some of us seem to dislike it, and that’s all there is to it.
