Okay, that’s the cheesiest title ever but it’s what I’m going with so deal with it.
Hey guys, I’m the new staff member here at DBLegends.com. Actually, I’m the only staff member here at DBLegends.com (that I’m aware of… Avenged is the owner so he doesn’t count!)
So why was I accepted into this establishment over every one else? Because I’m the only one who wanted the job. Nah, I’m kidding. The reason is that I know this site almost as well as Avenged, and I know Avenged almost as well as… his sister? Wait, does he have a sister? Never mind. The point is, I know what I’m doing.
In fact, I’ve already contributed a ton of crap over the past couple days. I’ve completed the Modern Consoles and Modern Handhelds video game sections of the site (which I’m extremely proud of) and the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Z Kai anime sections of the site. In addition, I’ve gone through the Dragonball Evolution pages and updated them with the latest information (as well as adding additional content and polishing the existing stuff up). I’ve also written two news stories which you’ve probably already seen below, and there’s plenty more where those came from.
So who am I exactly? Well, you might actually be familiar with me already if you’ve heard of the websites dbthemovie.com and dragonball.saiyanisland.com. I was the webmaster of both sites, which sadly (or not) are now dead. DBthemovie.com was the most popular Dragonball Evolution website on the Internet (yes, even more popular than the official Fox website, which, admittedly, wasn’t huge competition) and dragonball.saiyanisland.com was its “successor.” In mid-2009, shortly after Dragonball Evolution hit theaters, it was clear that interest in the movie had died down considerably, so I decided to transfer the site’s content over to a sub-domain of SaiyanIsland.com (dragonball.saiyanisland.com) and redirect the domain “dbthemovie.com” to it. That seemed to work, for a while.
During my stay at dragonball.saiyanisland.com, I switched gears from reporting news strictly on the live-action Dragonball movies and started reporting news on every facet of the Dragon Ball universe; the anime, the video games, the toys, the DVDs, you name it. But the site could never approach the level of popularity that dbthemovie.com had enjoyed. I don’t blame any one but myself because I never devoted enough time and energy into the site and my interest just wasn’t up to snuff.
On February 26th, 2010, untimely during a period of grief in my life, the domain dbthemovie.com expired without my knowledge and was acquired by a domain snatcher who quickly set-up a cheap knock-off website with stolen content from my old site. Unfortunately, dragonball.saiyanisland.com was offline during that whole ordeal, but thankfully Avenged agreed to let his visitors know in a news post on DBLegends.com.
Basically, dbthemovie.com now belongs to some greedy prick. I’m no longer affiliated with it in any way and have no control over its livelihood or content. Don’t visit it. Don’t permit the new, unknown owner money from advertisements because he clearly doesn’t deserve any.
Eventually, dragonball.saiyanisland.com returned and I resumed to slowly but surely post news updates and various other content. At this point though, I had lost all motivation and maintained the site only when bored. The owner of SaiyanIsland.com realized this and, understandably, refused to promote dragonball.saiyanisland.com on the front page of his site. Nevertheless, I still continued to update the website right up until the end.
The end was recent. In early August, when I attempted to visit dragonball.saiyanisland.com, a suspended notice appeared instead. Now, up until this point, it wasn’t uncommon for the site to go down for weeks at a time, and I would always inform the owner and he would fix it… eventually. However, upon contacting the owner this time, he informed me that his host “deleted everything” from the sub-domain’s server because “the contract expired.” Apparently, this had happened over a month ago but was just now affecting my end of the Internet. I was mad he didn’t tell me this when it happened, but asked him if he could redirect the sub-domain to DBLegends.com where I would explain the unfortunate situation. He agreed, and said it would take up to two days.
That was over a week ago, and dragonball.saiyanisland.com redirects to the front page of SaiyanIsland.com. Not what I asked for. About four days ago I sent him a message asking why he didn’t redirect the sub-domain properly. No answer, so I sent him another message a day or two later asking the same thing. No reply yet, and there’s no other way for me to contact him. So now I have no explanation pertaining to what’s going on other than he lied about redirecting the domain. I’d be more than happy to retract that statement if he eventually follows through with his agreement, and I hope he does, but that’s all I can come up with at the moment, which sucks.
I told Avenged I’d join DBLegend’s staff because I knew he could use help, he set everything up, and here I am. That’s pretty much it.
And that’s my life story. I know most of you couldn’t possibly care less, but there is a small percentage of visitors that want to know what’s up, and I hope this explains everything crystal clear for you guys. If you have any questions… um… I might answer them in the comments. Maybe.
