We can pretty much see they scrapped the trilogy plans they had initial and by those words it isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Shame…

i hope the sequel realy comes becouse DB:E was a good movie the story was not that great but goku’s custume was perfect piccolo looked like the piccolo from the manga and even goku’s hair was good ( at the begining it wasn’t good but when the fight with piccolo started goku’s hair was realy goku’s hair )

hello all. i really would like this to happen. i have been following this site for over a year but this is my first comment. DB:E was a bit of a disappointment but i really hope they make a sequel we fans will love. (although i doubt) thanks for all the info avenged =)

Promotion is clearly what killed the movie in the US. nobody heard of the movie except when fans told them it was going to be horrible. They didn’t expect to make much money though, the box-office results in the US is in line with what Fox expected, but they really blew it. All the posters for this film are beautiful, and it’s a very easy movie to make good trailers for, but they have to SHOW THEM to people. This film could obviously have made much more money if it was promoted well, and a lot lot more if it had a big budget. It doesn’t work too well to take a small blockbuster made for 30 to 45 million dollars and then throw in amongst huge blockbusters and expect it to work when people expected a 100 million dollar film along the lines of Spider-Man and X-Men.

I personally loved that film but it’s very easy for me to see how Fox screwed up in how to promote the film and what budget to give. i understand they didn’t want to go all out on the first one, but 30 million dollars is too low. the film managed to do a lot and do it beautifully on that budget, but had it been made for something like 80 or 100 million dollars, it would have more than satisfied the blockbuster-savvy audiences and they would have the freedom to accomplish a lot more. I love the style of the movie and that’s why I wanted more. If it contained the same amount of action and special effects of an average Hollywood blockbuster these days, but with those characters, those themes, this visual style and the type of action that they have, the movie would have been very successful. Take Avatar and make it for 30 million dollars for example. There is a lot of potential in that one movie and that potential was asking for a much bigger budget to wow larger audiences. A lot of people will tell you it’s not about the budget, but they are just not aware of it, it IS about the budget. It’s as if Blood: The Last Vampire had been hyped up as the next Transformers and then given the amount of promotion it was given. Put a small movie in the middle of big ones and then give it a half-assed promotion. This is why this film was half-successful where it was promoted and not successful where it wasn’t.
