Early Rumors on Live Action Dragon Ball
Old IGN reports stated several interesting and promising rumors for the live action Dragon Ball movie. These were all reported back in 2003 and will now be included in this new edition of our classic news articles.
The first report was that the film was initially planned to be four movies. Not only that but each movie was supposed to be over 3 hours long (something I originally expected to be done when it came to a live action DB movie) Here’s an excerpt from IGN.
They say that Fox is planning on not just one but four films, each film being one part of the “saga.” The report should be met with some skepticism, since they say that the film will be 3 – 4 hours long. And do they mean all four films or just the first one? It isn’t too clear.
The next piece of news was that Roland Emmerich was first interested in directing the film. Rumors of this became closer to fact when IMDB updated the movie’s status as Emmerich as the director. Here’s that excerpt.
The anime enthusiasts at Kiji Anime have been doing some investigating of their own, and they believe that Roland Emmerich (Stargate, Godzilla) may be interested in filming Dragonball Z. That rumor gained some strength this week when the Internet Movie Database updated the film’s listing, confirming Emmerich as director. Also according to the IMDb, Tedi Sarafian (Terminator 3, Tank Girl) will be writing the script, based on a story by Akira Toriyama.
The first of the four movies was planned to release in 2004 but the film was delayed. We will go into detail on the next classic news article. Oh and IGN mentioned in the same report that Bill Goldberg was considered for Nappa.
Also, several sources are suggesting that WWE wrestler Bill Goldberg has been offered the role of “Nappa” in the Dragonball Z film
