According to Civilized James, Dragonball Evolution has lost its theatrical release in certain countries and will just go straight to DVD. These countries include : Czech Republic, Slovakia, Denmark and Finland. There may be more that we are unaware of yet. But is this an early sign that the DVD/Blu-ray will hit stores worldwide fairly soon? We’ll keep you posted.

Thats not good.
Without those countries, then Dragonball won’t make a bunch of money in combine with other countries along with United States. But at least a sequel is on its way and I hope its has a lot better promotion and movie.

Promotion was absolutely horrible!! They could have done a better job promoting DBE. Dragonball Evolution was Amazing! I knew something was up when they waited 2 weeks to start the tv advertisement. When they did show the tv ads it wasn’t even that much. Infact I haven’t seen one tv add, the only reason I know about it is because avenged showed it to us. It’s like Dragonball was there last focus!

They was Lazy with the Promotion, that’s the only reason why there putting it straight to Dvd.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m Excited to see it come out on Blue Ray but they could have done a better job promoting Dragonball.
What pisses me off is I went to the theater with my orange gi and know one knew Dragonball was coming out. I spent $200 for my outfit to add to the experience and the screening for DBE wasn’t even packed. Only the hardcore fans knew it was coming out!! The Non-fans was curious to see what it was about, but had know ideal what it was about because they just found out about it.
I kept on hearing people say “I didn’t know they made a Dragonball movie?”….
The majority of them didn’t know it was out until they went to the theater and saw the poster.
The majority of the people thought it was good at my theater.
I wish they could have promoted this movie better.

ok im pretty sure the dvds might make more than the movie in the movie release cuz dvds and blurays cost more if the same amout of ppl who saw the film at the movies buy the dvds/blurays it’ll bring the gross to like 125 million trust me i added it up cuz movies tickets are about 10 bucks average and dvdz/blurays are like 18-20 bucks so its double the amout of money even if half the number of ppl who the saw the theater release it”ll still come to 100 million so i think its a good idea as long they do good promotion of the dvds/blurays on television its a way better idea to mkae up for lost cash am i right? mahn..im disapointed wit fox! i really thought they would do BIG promotion for this film since it’s one of the best known cartoon shows out here!..i mean, dont get meh wrong..i really like fox, but the point is that why would they make an adaption from (again) one of the best well know cartoons in the world and not promoting it until the very last week or 2! On Tv i only saw 1 tv spot of the film and that was pretty much it!..that really wasn’t helping this movie out! then i started to think, maybe fox doesn’t like it..so i dnt hav to see it! lolz…(yeh rite) but wen n’ saw it in theaters, thought there would be like at least a lil’ over half-full, but really it was..not even half, but like 1/4 of the theater was filled! i was disapointed, but i loved the movie..tuh let yuh kno! but…….really……….eh……….i jus hope they do alot of advertising on the DvD’s and blue-ray movie releases! so they would do a sequel!..ko DBE! rayuk(Quote)

just reading though some of the comments and wtf i grew up with db/dbz/dbgt and loved them all they were brilliant but that movie was just gash, it couldn’t of bin mush worse they litrally crushed all of dragonball into 1hr and 15 mins that cannot be done with out screwing it up and they also chucked a load of non sense in there e.g goku at school WTF!. why do people have so much of a problem with goky being at school? ok they turned it into a “kid with no friends turns into the hero” gig.
but how do we know that gohan wouldnt have wanted to give him some sort of education had he still been alive? as gohan was dead pretty much before dragonball began goku was living in the forrest on his own. since gohans alive in the movie its only natural that hed want goku to have some sort of education.
i cant stand it when people just say its shite and expect to be classed as a fan. if your a fan of a sports team you support them when they win or lose. they might sell your favourite player and bring in a complete tw*t but you still support the team.
same as dragonball i been a fan of it for a long time and ok theres things about the movie i dont like (bad CGI oozaru for one) but i still support the movie and respect that they had a go and no shit on it just cause they didnt make it how THEY wanted it. they made it for fans and non fans.
when i was in the cinema there was loads of kids that had never heard of dragonball but were there to watch a movie and left excited and imitating the kamehameha and when i told them it was a cartoon they were even more excited. so now they gunna go home and search for dragonball and Z and becme the next gen of fans. and ok theyll see that the cartoon is better and much more action packed then the movie but theyv been drawn into the db world be the “shit waste of money” movie. dazzv1(Quote)

I can also confirm that it will be direct-to-video on Portugal.
The movie was originally slated for a July 2009 release, but the distribuitor announced that it will be released on DVD.
