    Hy!
    I saw the movie yesterday!
    I’m from Hungary.
In my opinion the movie is very very good and theres a lot of funny scenes, the visual effects are awesome!
But Yamcha never fight, i don’t understand why, and the movie is very short :( I can watch all the day :D

    (L) DBE (L)

  • Leo Finsta

I thought the movie was good, just the final fight scene that was too short and some. Otherwise it was decent, Im glad they got this one out of the way, they pretty much fit the whole dragonball into one movie so the sequel should be on good track.
Fox need to fork over more cash, but with the money they had the effects were good. :)

  • kman

anyone see it yet. any new footage?

  • Leo Finsta

I didnt see any new footage, aside from what i saw from the asian version. Sorry :/

  • Charlie

I loved it! Sure it was a short film but it was a great start to a series. As long as James Wong doesn’t direct the next film !!

  • Charlie

No there is no new footage :(

  • Charlie

More like tiny snipets for cut out. Only like 2 second snippets and thats all. Only a few of them but not much. only 75 minutes though. Add the credits makes it 83-85 (ish)

  • kman

well wtf. 100mins 100mins, rumors suck my asshole. you know iv been waiting since i saw the cast signed onto the movie. i thought everything was awesome. saw the movie and was like ehhhhhhhh. and then everyone said 15 more mins in america and i thought that would raise the films “likelyness”. but NO now were stuck with the bootleg on the big screen. UGHHHH guess its another waiting game till we need another movie attempt.

  • Jarren

On my way to go see it now

  • Charlie

    enjoy :) I hope…

  • Dazzv1

quite pleased with the movie as a first step… last 10mins seemed rushed ..could have done with extending movie by that much so that it flowed more smoothly.. all in all im happy with it and cant wait for sequel

  • http://www.sonicballerproductions.blogspot.com sonicballer8888

    @lol
you don’t know us, don’t call us homos, loser.

Anyway, I saw the movie at the midnight release. I never watched the bootleg. But It was good. Not as good as I hoped, but it was good. it was WAAAAAAAY too rushed. But the parts that they showed, I loved. When it started, I felt like crying of happiness. When it ended I felt like crying of sadness, i was like: “That’s it?”

I was disappointed and amazed. James Wong better not direct the next one though. I want Sam Ramni, Micheal Bay, Steven Spielberg, or some other really good director.

  • avenged

Trolls should be ignored guys. So no point in responding to them since their comments will just be deleted.

  • Doritos

I’ve just got back from watching, lemme share some thoughts of mine.

It’s hard to love everything on the movie, there are things fans will not like, and things they will.
I would lie if i said it was perfect or even that i loved it, but i’m also not unfair, i was entertained the whole time, from the 1st second to the last, if someone say the movie was boring in anypart they are just lying.
But no matter what, if you ever liked DRAGONBALL (forget Z for a while) you have to watch it, it is a unique movie, it’s comedy is great, it’s action (though short) are awesome, the effects (thought it’s budget was ONLY 45-50million) were well done, the movie is just a fun time, a 1h and 30 minutes of good time, give it a try.
If you are not watching it trying to nit-pick or if you are not going with your head looking for bad things to complain i think you’ll like it too.
When the movie was over i was wanting for more, that’s a good feeling, the bootleg doesnt make the movie’s justice, it is alot better watching the full 85-89 minutes in the theaters.
    I will rate the movie 3,5 out of 5 ~ 7/10.
I guess i’ll be watching it again, i love when i leave the cinema wanting more ^^.

  • DratiniOozaru13

I think we can all agree this movie was a 3.5/5. I keep hearing that from all the supporters and that was my score right after I came out the theaters.

  • Luke

    YES!!! loved every second!

  • Jose

so theres no staff against sword.MAN!!!!

  • thaMC

Yeah, there was no sword or fist cams! What the Hell. They obviously cut a lot out.

The movie was great from beginning to end! but it felt rushed towards the end! when he shot the kamehameha..they shouldv’e made it slower! and the movie felt really short! but other than that, i wus really surprised with Justin’s performance! My opinion, he does a great Goku..hope he plays goku in the sequel! Master Roshi, was the bomb diggiddy! he was way too funny! Bulma was hot and sexy, lovin Emmy! Chichi was really sexy! at some parts i felt like i wanted to squeeze HER chichi’s!jk..LoLz and Yamcha was hekka funny! and he does sound kinda like yamcha! though i hope he fights in the sequel!..and James Wong’s vision of dragonball is amazing! hope he’s the director for the sequel! if not, than the producer! really enjoyed every fighting scene especially the SlOh-MohZ! In Average..i’d rate the movie from 8.9 out of 10! really great for the family!..go see it to support the SEQUEL!!!

    i liked the movie

  • Jarren

Back from the film, and I have to say I really dug it. It was so fun to watch, they captured the character of Goku very nicely came across totally differently and way better than I thought it would, very well done. I was pleased with the quality, for a 45 million dollar action film it was really good. I only have a few minute problems with the entire film they are, that it was to short (but the length is perfect for kids, PERFECT little boys movie, and that’s who the target audience was. They got who they were trying to get. Witch is NOT 24 year old retardedly obsessed basement anime fans, its new fans: mainly kids and everyone else commercially, so win for Fox and company). The other being the occasional dialogue oddity, but those are fine because it really did FEEL like dragonball. Very pleased with this end result. This is Dragonball evolution, opening up the archetype to a new generation of kids. Not Dragonball or Dragonball Z, witch many of you were exposed to… Might want to keep that in mind before u complain about something that’s perfectly fine as its own material.

  • Jarren

Also the complaints about the story being contradiction unto it self are untrue, must have been more of all that stupidity at work. I remember many complaints being something along the lines of “It doesn’t explain how piccolo knows Goku is Oozaru, when Mai says Roshi has been training the boy… Son goku” Considering they all know the prophecy, it makes sense they know a boy is at the heart of it… Like I said they must have missed that, stupidity at work. Don’t listen to nay-sayers, this film really is a fun time.

  • spiderfreak182

let me say this, if i heard yesterday for the first time that a dragonball movie was comming out this very day and saw this film without trailers or anything to prepare me, i’d cry at how terribly done this adaptation was.
    But.
Since i knew exactly what i was getting myself into, i didnt get too suprised at what i saw, and i actually really enjoyed the movie.
The bad things that suprized me were that yamcha was terrible, could not stand any of the scenes were he opened his mouth. He had the worst line.
And the second thing to suprize me was the terrible effects on the oozaru. Everyone kept saying the cgi was bad, but i could never imagine it to be THAT bad. im glad the majority of the time they quickly cut away or had something obscuring his face, cause everytime i saw its face i wanted it to cut away or for goku to hurry up and turn back to his normal self.
i currently give it a 7.5, but if i take away my bias and step back, as a film i give it somewere between a 3 – 4.5

    9/10

  • Bug-Z@

    @ Jarren

u said it makes sence that they all know goku is oozaru but i disagree dont get me wrong i really liked the movie but some of it didnt make sence, first of all piccolo was traped in his prison (which they didnt explain how he escaped that prison) at the time goku came to earth so how did piccolo imediately know that goku was oozaru ??? and second when goku met roshi, roshi was like ok ur gohan’s grandson lets go get the dragonballs and just before the end fight he knows that goku is oozaru with no explanation the only other thing they didnt explain was how can piccolo control oozaru??? i thought the movie was good for an introduction to a series of movies but i would have liked to seen extended seens so the movie was longer(mainly the final battle and goku training more) i thought the slow-mo was a lil over used at the sart of the movie but still i thought the movie was good i liked it i still give it 3.5 out of 5 was good to watch it was just minor details that i just explained that could of impoved it in my opinion

    cheers

  • Bug-Z@

btw it aslo would of been nice if they had some origin story on the dragonballs :)

  • Dazzv1

i think piccalo controlled oozaru in a way thats kinda like oozaru is pretty dumb and suceptable(sp?) to suggestion or something like that. which would set up a part in saiyan saga where vegeta could turn into oozaru and piccalo would be like “its ok i can control him” and gets backhanded my a fully aware vegeta lol

(i no piccalo dies before that part but still would be funny lol)

As for piccalo knowing goku is oozaru maybe the dragonballs talk to piccalo too as it was partly him and kami who made the dragonballs… (in anime although according to interview with masters he said that piccalo helped mystics make them) so could make sence..

  • Dazzv1

the intersting part is if they are going to skip piccalo junior part and go to saiyan saga… i really hope they dont cause piccalo junior/goku fight is amazing :)

  • Finisher

Not yet seen the movie but about what i here the score at Imdb must be a little better, but its still at 3.1/10
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1098327/ so do something:P

  • SlashFox14

Guys, I know I didn’t see the movie yet which I’m gonna watch it tomorrow but Dragonball Evolution made $2,075,000 on the first day which is at #8 right now. compared to Hannah Montana: The Movie’s first day gross of $17,400,000 who is at #1 right now. :(

  • Killerdbz

so yeah i went to see the movie yesterday……it was pretty good..i mean i thought i would of been better but i will give it a 7/10….cant wait for the sequel!!!!

  • Leo Finsta

i knew this movie would be the most difficult to pull of because they pretty much fit elements of the whole dragonball saga into a 89 minute movie. I think it will be smooth sailing from here, because of the last fight u will know what to expect more action wise in the sequel from beginning to end. Hopefully the gross from the box office will increase so fox will put more money into the next, until then I’ll support the sequel. At least this didnt do as bad as street fighter legend of chunli and that movie had a higher budget.

  • Jarren

    @ Bug-Z

Well in Dragonball the cartoon the balls them selfs only had a myth behind them told be Roshi and that’s about it, until Kami but you probably already knew that.

“the time goku came to earth so how did piccolo imediately know that goku was oozaru” He didn’t, but piccolo always knew of the prophecy witch told of a boy (likely foretold by um KAMI :P ), with the Oozaru power as was made very obvious in the film. Of course much of it wasn’t explained like how Piccolo can control Goku in the first place BUT their is obviously an explanation behind everything. The characters them self’s don’t even know right now… So why should we? A lot of movies and story’s are set up in ways then explained in another story as you know, like the original Dragonball or this film… So just think of this as like episode one of whats supposed to be a series of events, because really thats all it is :P Not just a stand alone movie because when all the films are made, IF they are, it’ll play out nicely as one movie watching them all together type thing :P

    @ Dazzv1

Piccolo lives my friend :P stay after the credits, If that’s what u meant…

  • Bug-Z

    @ Jarren

i agree with u in most ways but what im tryin to say is i seen the anime so i can piece things together that was left out of the movie but on the other hand why should i have to for example, this movie was also made for non DB fans and they were the questions my mates asked me becuase they havent seen DB the anime (they know of it a some really minor details but never watched it), my opinion is if they made the movie a lil longer they could have explained those question i said which would have added to the story and mabye added to the end fight seen which is wat most people complained about(i also would have liked to seen goku taraing alot more then wat was shown but anyway). i agree that this is an introdution to a series of movies which doent explain everythin to leave for the next ones like how the dragonballs were created but the questions like how did everyone know about goku being oozaru and and how piccolo escaped his prision i felt they should of been explained in this movie cos its wat this movie is about it would be hard to explain it in the next movie cos they would be movin on from this movie and goin onto bigger stories and different topic/theme, they didnt really have to explain how piccolo can control oozaru but it still would have been nice if they did

anyway im goin to the movies tomorrow to see it for the 3rd time :) i still liked the movie it was good (but would have been better with those minor details explained in my opinion)

    cheers

  • Bug-Z

Training lol not taraing my bad

  • Bug-Z@

    @ Dazzv1

u said “i think piccalo controlled oozaru in a way thats kinda like oozaru is pretty dumb and suceptable(sp?) to suggestion or something like that” which is a good explaination but if oozaru is dumb and cant think for him self why would he listen to piccolo if he is dumb then he should attack everyone and not just his friends, i had the same thought when i first seen the movie but then i realised that if oozaru goes really dumb then y listen to piccolo, why not attack everyone

  • Austan

8/10, that’s the sum of wat i thought of it. ya see, it felt rushed, that takes off half a point, then it was toooooooo short, that another half point, Piccolo had very short screen time and Goku and him only fought at the end, and no more than that, taking two more half points off. That’s my review. other than that, it was great!

  • Chris Crosby

When Bulma runs out of ammo throws the bike and is up the wall with no way out. A yellow ki blast comes and hits Mai in the back. She goes down and Yamcha walks through th yellow fog. I know Bulma can’t throw ki so the only other person is Yamcha.

Goku fast fist fighting Roshi was awesome!

  • http://dragonballthelivemovie.blogspot.com Tasunara

Dragonball Evolution was in every essence of the name Dragonball. There are some small details that bugged me, but overall, the movie was pretty true to the feel of the manga.
The first thing that bugged me was Goku wanting to be popular, but that gets quickly overshadowed as he’s thrust into the adventure that takes up most of the film.
The high school scenes annoyed me, but they were about a good 5-10 minutes of the movie that didn’t matter at all.
Jamie Chung’s acting as Chi Chi was so annoying. She just made Chi Chi seem so stupid, and her dialogue was terrible. Snippet: “I’m a fighter, too.”
Yamcha didn’t have any fight scenes.
Piccolo didn’t get enough screen time.
Shen Long, the eternal dragon, didn’t say anything. Not even his trademark, “Your wish has been granted.”
The last fight scene felt a bit rushed, but it was entertaining and very Dragonball, if you ask me.
    The movie seemed too short.

Other than that, I was pretty satisfied, but some scenes really, struck me, and here’s what they were:
Chow Yun-Fat’s portrayal of Master Roshi seemed to steal the show, in a great way. He was funny, energetic, and a great teacher.
Justin Chatwin’s performance as Goku surprised me; He was as dumb as Goku in the manga, he had the energy, and the hair was pretty cool, to me, although some would beg to differ.
Joon Park as Yamcha was the perfect casting choice; he was cool and goofy and clumsy and funny all at once.
The special effects for the movie were awesome! They really fit with the environment and the world and everything.
Grandpa Gohan was almost exactly like in the manga, kinda like an extremely aged Goku; kinda makes me wish that Goku would be a bit more like him.
There are certain nods to the manga, such as the turtle shell, the Capsule bike, Capsule Corp, Bulma’s last name being Briefs, the shadow crane strike, the nyoibo, Mai, the tournament, Goku’s final costume being the blue gi with the Orange belt and undershirt, which he wore after the final battle, which was kinda like Vegito’s costume, Piccolo’s Explosion Wave, the Ma Fu Ba, and plenty of others that I’ll let you look for.
    My ratings:
    Script: 6.5/10
    Acting: 7.5/10
    Fight scenes: 9/10
    Comedy: 8.5/10
    Cast: 9/10
    Overall: 9/10

You may have a different opinion, and I don’t care about it, but this is mine.

  • Jarren
  • dazzV1

    @Jarren

i meant he gets killed in the anime by nappa before vegeta fights. n it wasnt that long into the credits, i thought it was at the end so i ran to toilet quickly and came back JUST after that scene started lol!

    @Bug-Z

good point. oozaru would just attack everybody but i guess if you get somebody whos dumb and say to them “that guy got something shiney, get it!” hed proberly go and get it… not sure if hed bring it back tho lol…

  • Jon

I dont think this was a very good movie at all. You could feel it was rushed. It had Fox and James Wong written all over it. Anyone remember The One? Cool fight scenes but lack of depth and character development in story, a rushed, along for the ride feel. There are various plot holes that i found in the movie. Why the hell does Piccolo need the Dragonballs to rule the world….Couldnt he just use all that power like he did in the anime to threaten humanity? I thought the one liners such as “Prepare to eat dirt” made everyone cringe in the theater. “Are you piccolo did you kill my grandfather?” was terrible…If your going to have an 18 year old Goku who goes to school and is in our society….i dont think he would be that stupid to say something like that. Piccolo had hardly any screen time and hardly any dialogue…for being the “Big bad” of the movie he wasnt fleshed out at all. And the other characters werent either. The Dragon was a let down. There are so many things. Like hw goku transforms and his shirt isnt tucked in any more as oozaru….but as soon as he transforms back his clothes are perfect again. and speaking of that scene when Piccolo says, “You are Oozaru” and then goku is like, “Wha..no!” I mean c’mon…he should at least queastion it before falling straight into it. That was a prime example of it being rushed. The Ki effects were good though. The fights were way to short….even the final battle was resolved in under 5 min, which is supposed to be the final big battle of the series in the manga/anime…..and they make it under 5 min. I understand this was an adaptation of it ok?! But Even for a casual movie goer….it really was not good at all. It just goes to show when you have someone who “Thinks they know what they are doing”…it sucks, compared to someone who “Knows what they are doing”.

  • Space Ace

I saw the DragonBall Evolution movie even though I never saw the anime cartoon version. Perhaps the film picks up or continues where the cartoon series left off?

If a sequel does come out I predict Goku San will continue collecting the DragonBalls before evil forces do, defend himself against enemy opponets who dare get their hands on the magic spheres, bring them together to summon the Dragon Spirit Genie to grant his wish, blah-blah-blah.

What would happen if characters such as Ninjara (Archie’s TMNT Adventure Comics) the BattleToads (BattleToads Video Games) Billy & Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon Cartoon Series) Ryu Hoshi, Ken Masters, Chun Li (Street Fighter Video Games) joined up with Goku and friends to help search and defend the DragonBalls from evil??? That would make an excellent sequel for a movie or new animated series…

  • avenged

No…Dragon Ball is DB…not Street Fighter…not Battletoads….not TMNT. It is Dragon Ball. Iam actually surprised you have never seen DB or even DBZ…Iam actually quite confused that you never heard of DB but know of all those other franchises….unless you’re just being sarcastic >_>

And no, the film doesn’t pick up or continues where the anime left off. ‘Son’ Goku and Lord (King) Piccolo fought in the anime/manga as well.

  • SlashFox14

I saw the movie today. You know it was pretty fantastic. They did a great job on doing this film. Great job FOX and everyone for Dragonball Evolution.

  • Michael Clark

I thought the movie was pretty good. The only problem I had was that it was too short. Overall the acting was good, the story was epic, and the special effects were awesome.

    I give the movie 8.5/10

  • http://dragonlegends anthony

my favorite part was when goku turned into oozaru he was awsome he looked exglxle like in the manga but in the manga when goku turns into oozaru he his cloths riped off because hes big he biger then my uncle goya
